I am fortunate to be able to live and work in Central Otago, 'A World of Difference'. I am the principal of Clyde School, a year 1 to 8 primary school in the historic town of Clyde, which was established in the 1860's during the Otago gold rush.
I believe the children of Clyde School are fortunate to start their formal education in a well resourced community school with passionate teachers and a world full of exciting educational experiences at our doorstep, from our wonderful natural environment to our lively arts and cultural community. My enthusiasm for smaller community schools with a rural flavour stems from my own childrens experience growing up with dad as their teacher and principal at Omarama School in the South Island high country. I believe schools such as Clyde provide children with a unique connection with their community, a 'can do' attitude and the opportunity to take on leadership roles.
My first love is flying. I have flown gliders for almost forty years and still can't resist running outside when something interesting passes overhead!. My academic background is geography so I am fascinated with the physical world around me and l like explore it by foot, bike, skis, aeroplane, or if I'm feeling lazy, my 4 wheel drive.
I have three sports mad children, two of which are at university and one still at Dunstan, our local high school.
Christine, their mum keeps us all in line.
